Cristiano Ronaldo's girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez has slammed Portugal's head coach Fernando Santos after crashing out of the FIFA World Cup 2022 in the quarte rfinals. The Portuguese team was defeated by Morocco 1-0 who became the first African team to reach the semi-final stage of the World Cup.

During the game, Santos dropped Cristiano Ronaldo out of the playing eleven and brought him on at the 50-minute mark. The 68-year-old had opted for a similar strategy in the Round of 16 as well where Ronaldo started off the bench and Portugal registered a resounding 6-1 win over Switzerland.

But after the loss, Georgina Rodriguez slammed Santons for team selection and stated that underestimating the ‘best player in the world’ and ‘most powerful weapon’ will have consequences. She posted this message on her Instagram story.

The message read, "Today, your friend and coach made the wrong decision. That friend for whom you have so many words of admiration and respect. The same one who, when putting you on the field, saw how everything changed, but it was too late. You can't underestimate the best player of the world, its most powerful weapon. Much less should one stand up for those who don't deserve it. Life gives us lessons. Today we don't lose, we learn. We admire you."

But on the contrary, Fernando Santos has no regrets regarding his team selection when he was asked if there would be a different result if Ronaldo started the game. Santos stated that the team played extremely well against Switzerland and hence he opted for a similar team.

While speaking to the media, Fernando Santos said, "I don't think so, no regrets. I think this was a team which played very well against Switzerland. Cristiano Ronaldo is a great player, he came in when we thought it was necessary, so no regrets."
