Team India were knocked out of the T20 World Cup 2022 after facing a 10-wicket loss against England in the semifinals. Many fans and experts questioned Indian selectors over Yuzvendra Chahal's snubbing from the Playing XI in the World Cup despite the 32-year-old winning the purple cap in the IPL 2022.
Recently, the Indian leg-spinner has opened up on his exclusion from the Men in Blue playing XI for the T20 World Cup.
During a interview with Aaj Tak, Chahal revealed, "The team combination always comes first and it is the most important thing. We had Ashwin and Axar and they were bowling well. I knew that whenever I play, I have to do well. That's why everything was clear with Rohit bhai and the coach."
Chahal was left out of the Indian squad in the T20 World Cup 2021 and although he was named in the 15-member squad for the last World Cup, the Rajasthan Royals' star didn't get a chance to play for his country next year as well.
He added, "Every player was told to be ready. When you are to be selected for the 15-member squad, these things happen."
Meanwhile, India are currently on Bangladesh tour for a three-match ODI series followed by two-match Test series. Bangladesh have managed an unassailable 2-0 lead over Team India in the ODI series as the last ODI is scheduled to be played on Saturday at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
