Najam Sethi took to X and expressed his discontent with the decision not to shift the venue for the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4s stage.
Najam Sethi was disappointed about India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2023 Group A match in Sri Lanka getting rained off, which led to him revealing the aforementioned suggestion made to ACC as the former PCB President.
Talking about the ongoing Asia Cup, Pakistan became the first team to qualify for the Super 4s after the match was called off on Saturday.
The 75-year-old, Najam Sethi had served as the PCB Chairman for seven months since December 2022.
Reports claim, the HCA alerted the BCCI that the local police had concerns about providing sufficient security for two matches.
It was widely speculated that Sethi was a favourite to become the proper chairman of PCB, after the interim tenure for him and the management committee is due to end on June 21, Wednesday.
Sethi’s comment came after all the stakeholders agreed to host the Asia Cup 2023 in a hybrid model.
The chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Najam Sethi reportedly said that the organisation has written to the International Cricket Council (ICC), to point out that they can’t unilaterally approve the fixture list for the World Cup.
It is understood that PCB are currently waiting for an official confirmation about their Hybrid Model from the ACC.
India and Pakistan appeared in a Test in December 2007.
India refused to travel to Pakistan citing security issues, whereas the idea of hosting the tournament in the UAE has also been rejected due to excessive heat.
Also Sethi mentioned the political angle surrounding the venues of Cricket World Cup while detailing that Ahmedabad might be a security risk for Pakistan team to travel to.
This demand comes before Pakistan confirm their participation in the ODI World Cup in India.
Earlier, the BCCI had refused to let Team India travel to Pakistan to play the Asia Cup 2023 because of the continuous political tensions between the two nations, as announced by secretary Jay Shah last October.
Shoaib Malik opined that giving up leadership role will help Babar Azam make more records at the international level as the pressure on him will be limited to his batting.
Pakistan will travel to the UAE on 22 March to play Afghanistan for three-game bilateral series.
Quetta Gladiators were practicing at the National Stadium at that time of the attack and were delayed getting back to their hotel.
In response to Jay Shah’s tweet, Mr. Sethi poked the BCCI secretary by suggesting him to also present the ‘structure and calendar of this year’s Pakistan Super League.
PCB Chairman claimed that he has always respected Ramiz Raja and will welcome him if he wants to take up any commentary assignment.
