In the early stages of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, there have been a few disappointing performers in all the teams participating in the tournament. While a few top players not doing well in the ongoing IPL season, some youngsters have found it hard to adjust to the demands of this franchise T20 tournament.
Here are the five players who might not get to play for the remainder of the IPL 2024 season after the first three weeks of the tournament:
Piyush Chawla
After a successful IPL with Mumbai Indians, Piyush Chawla has endured an ordinary start to the new season of the tournament. The right-arm leg spinner has played only four matches in the IPL 2024 for the former multi-time champions, picking up two wickets at an economy rate of 11.50, following which he has been removed from the playing XI in favour of Shreyas Gopal.

Rahul Tripathi
During the IPL 2024, Rahul Tripathi found himself out of favour at Sunrisers Hyderabad after they brought high-profile reinforcements in their batting department due to the tough season last year. With the consistency in performances from the likes of Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Aiden Markram at the top of the order, it is highly unlikely for Rahul Tripathi to take any part in the remaining matches of the tournament.

Kwena Maphaka
Mumbai Indians threw Kwena Maphaka, 17, into the deep end in the IPL 2024, and the Sunrisers Hyderabad clobbered to all corners of the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Following his second appearance in the season against Rajasthan Royals, the left-arm fast bowler was left out of the playing XI of Mumbai Indians, and they might not reintroduce him back to the tournament for the remainder of the season.

Rahul Chahar
F ollowing a tough season of the IPL in 2023, Punjab Kings allowed Rahul Chahar to redeem himself in the new season, but the right-arm leg spinner was unable to do so. He picked up only two wickets in his three appearances for PBKS at an economy of 11.38, following which the team management left him out of the playing XI, and it could stay the same for the rest of this season.

Devdutt Padikkal
Devdutt Padikkal has been the biggest disappointment among the top batters in the IPL 2024, barely managing to buy a run in the tournament thus far. He has scored 25 runs in the five innings for Lucknow Super Giants this season, at a woeful average of five, which is why the team might make him sit out for the remainder of the IPL.
