The much-awaited Legends League Cricket kicked off in some style on Thursday as Mohammad Kaif asked Asia Lions to bat first in Match 1. Tillakaratne Dilshan and Kamran Akmal came to open the innings for their side while Stuart Binny bowled the 1st over. And just like the old days, the explosive duo showed their class as they smashed two glorious boundaries in the first over, one by one.

Dilshan then tried to roll back the years as he attempted his famous Dilscoop but unlike the past, he failed to time it to perfection. The 45-year-old seemed to have completely missed the ball as the ball struck the pads. Despite a loud appeal, the umpire did not look too convinced and gave it as 'not-out'.

The India Maharajas players looked quite sure which prompted captain Mohammad Kaif to signal for DRS. And it proved to be a great use of the review! The replays showed that the ball would go and crash onto the stumps, as three reds confirmed that the on-field decision would have to be overturned.

The dangerous TM Dilshan had to make a long way back to the pavilion (after scoring 5 runs off 3 balls) as Asia Lions lost their first wicket of the match. Meanwhile, the first dismissal of Legends League Cricket went in the name of Stuart Binny.

Stuart Binny came close to take his second wicket in his next over when Kamran Akmal skied the ball up in the air, only to be dropped by Subramaniam Badrinath under the floodlights. After the end of powerplay, Asia Lions' score read 56/2 in 6 overs.
