The grand finale of Legends League Cricket kicked off in Oman on Saturday with Asia Lions locking horns with World Giants in a much-anticipated contest. The two sides, studded with star players, played some brilliant cricket in league stages and deservingly made it to the finals of the tournament. One last hurdle was left to clear and the intent was clear from both teams, right from the beginning.
As Lions won the toss and put Giants to bat, Shoaib Akhtar began the proceedings. Although he bowled a few wides in the opening over, it was nevertheless a decent start as he conceded only 8 runs. However, the Rawalpindi Express completely lost his rhythm when he returned for his next over.
The 46-year-old looked tired and as he tried to put all his energy in an attempt to bowl a bouncer, Akhtar bowled a shocker! In a bizarre incident, the ball landed on the other pitch and as per the laws, the umpire signaled it as 'no-ball'.
On the subsequent 'free-hit', Kevin Pietersen made sure that he would punish the bowler as the 41-year-old smashed a huge six, to pile on misery for Akhtar.
