With great power, comes great responsibility they say. The same is true with the power that comes with being Virat Kohli. The former India skipper is easily one of the biggest brands of world cricket and is among the best batters in the world. There is no number to the lives he has influenced and will continue to influence, neither there is a figure as to how many people he has inspired.
However, one thing is certain wherever he goes, all eyes are bound to be on him. In a video doing the rounds, Kohli was seen casually chewing gum as the Indian national anthem is being played before the start of the third ODI in Cape Town.
The same hasn't gone down too well with a section of fans on social media.
Have a look at the video here:
"Such a shameless act. This is ridiculous," replied one user to the video. "what can you expect from chokli lol," wrote another. "Poor guy once asked people to not burst crackers and now this", wrote another user.
As far as his performance on the cricket field is concerned, Kohli is currently in the middle of a run chase as India are eyeing to chase down 289 in 50 overs to win the third and final ODI against South Africa. The visitors have already conceded the series by losing the first two matches but would want to save themselves of an embarrassment of a clean sweep and take a consolatory win back home.
Kohli scored a half-century in the first ODI before getting out for a duck in the second. He opening his account with a glorious boundary in the final ODI today but it would be interesting to see if he can convert his start into a match-winning hundred, a landmark that has eluded Kohli since November 2019.
