The Super 12 stage of the ongoing T20 World Cup has kicked off in full swing and the fans have already witnessed some unexpected results. Defending champions West Indies are on verge of elimination after losing their first two matches against England and South Africa respectively. While Group 1 was always going to be interesting with so many big teams, Group 2 isn't going to be as one-sided as fans thought earlier.

Team India were in the favourites in the group but they had to face a crushing 10-wicket at the hands of Pakistan in their first match of the campaign. It was followed by Afghanistan making a huge statement as they beat Scotland by 130 runs. As Indian fans await their first ICC trophy since 2013, the permutations and combinations have already begun and various scenarios have now been laid out as Pakistan lock horns with New Zealand on Tuesday.

Assumption - India, Pakistan and New Zealand will beat rest of the teams

Although the other teams in Group 2 (Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia) are capable of pulling off a huge upset on their day, one would just assume that big teams like India, Pakistan and New Zealand might be able to see off their challenge and come up with 2 points each in all those games.

If this happens, the qualification scenario will then depend on what happens in Match 19 (NZ vs Pak) and Match 28 (India vs NZ). These are the various scenarios which could eventually take place after the end of Super 12.

Scenario 1

If Pakistan and India beat New Zealand, both the Asian nations will qualify for the semi-finals. The points of all the teams will be as follows:

Pakistan - 10 points

India - 8 points

New Zealand - 6 points

Scenario 2

If New Zealand beat Pakistan and India beat New Zealand, the net run-rate will decide the semi-finalists. The points of all the teams will be as follows:

Pakistan - 8 points

India - 8 points

New Zealand - 8 points

Scenario 3

If New Zealand beat Pakistan and India, Virat Kohli's side will be eliminated from the tournament. The points of all the teams will be as follows:

New Zealand - 10 points

Pakistan - 8 points

India - 6 points

Scenario 4

If Pakistan beat New Zealand and New Zealand beat India, it will again mean the end of road for Men in Blue. The points of all the teams will be as follows:

Pakistan - 10 points

New Zealand - 8 points

India - 6 points

Check out the scenarios:

It must be noted that this is based on the assumption that the three sides will be able to beat Afghanistan, Namibia and Scotland which is something that won't be as easy. An upset in any of these matches could make things way more interesting which is something that fans would love to experience in the tournament.
