Pakistan star bowler Shaheen Afridi was reported to have been injured in the opening match of Asia Cup 2023 against Nepal. The status of the injury hasn’t been revealed to the media so far, but in case the injury gets serious enough for him to miss out on the key clash against India then, here we will see about three different bowlers who can replace the star pace bowler.
1. Mohammad Wasim Jr.
The young pace bowler has taken 24 wickets from 15 ODI matches at a very good average of 25.66 with an economy of 5.16. He was last seen playing for Pakistan in the recently completed 3rd ODI match against Afghanistan at Colombo (RPS). He has played seven ODI matches in this calendar year and took 9 wickets. six out of seven ODI games he played at Karachi against New Zealand.

2. Faheem Ashraf
Faheem Ashraf was also last seen playing for Pakistan in the recently completed 3rd ODI match against Afghanistan at Colombo (RPS) where he made a comeback into the side after a period of two years. In his ODI career as a right-arm medium-fast bowler, he has taken only 25 wickets from 31 innings so far. In the recent game against Afghanistan, he ended with bowling figures of 2/43 in 8 overs.

Unlike the above two options, Usama Mir is a leg spinner who has played a handful of ODI matches this calendar year and made a good impact on his national side.
