Former Indian cricketer Yashpal Sharma passed away this morning after suffering a massive heart attack. He was 66 years old. The 1983 World Cup winner reportedly suffered a heart attack after coming from a morning walk.
He represented India in 37 Test matches and 42 ODIs. Yashpal Sharma scored 1606 runs at an average of 33.45 in Tests, which also included two centuries. He was part of the 1983 World Cup-winning squad and was a prominent middle-order batsman.
In ODIs, he scored 883 runs at 28.48, which included four half-centuries.
He was also appointed as a national selector for a couple of years and was reappointed to the panel in 2008.
Yashpal played 160 matches in Ranji and scored 8, 933 runs, which included 21 centuries with the highest score of 201*. He represented three teams in domestic cricket, including Haryana and Railways.
