The Indian Premier League (IPL) has gradually established itself as one of the biggest sporting leagues in the world. While it is certainly the biggest from the sport of cricket, across sport it still has some distance to cover before it can compete with the other lucrative leagues worldwide. For the same reason, a lot of eyes will be on IPL Media Rights Tender as the IPL broadcasting rights are set to be sold for a record number.

The Board has divided the whole process into a total of four packages (A, B, C, and D). Package A – TV exclusive rights only for the Indian subcontinent.

Package B – Digital only rights for the Indian subcontinent.

Package C – Non-exclusive matches rights which will include the the tournament opener, and couple of evening weekend games, final, and playoff matches. Out of 74 matches Package C will include a total of 18 games.

Package D – Rights to show the matches outside the Indian subcontinent.

The organising board – the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to get a record-breaking sum in their e-auction for the IPL Broadcasting rights and have issued an IPL Media Rights Tender for the same. Even the International Cricket Council (ICC), Cricket Australia (CA) and England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) among other boards and stakeholders are keeping a close eye on the developments.
