Indian Premier League’s (IPL) 17th edition is all set to start from March 22 with the most successful IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore in Chennai.

Mumbai Indians is regarded as one of the greatest-ever franchises in world cricket with its astonishing record not just in IPL, but also in the other leagues. They have won five titles in the IPL and all of them came under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma.
In 16 editions of the IPL, Mumbai-based franchise has played 248 games in total where they have won 138 games, most by any IPL franchise. They have a winning percentage of 56.68, which is bettered only by their arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings who are on top with 58.96% (teams with 150+ matches).

Chennai Super Kings
Regarded as the fiercest rivals of Mumbai Indians, CSK have also clinched five IPL titles till now and all came under the leadership of MS Dhoni. Despite getting a suspension from IPL for two years in 2016-17, CSK comes second on the list of teams with most wins in the IPL.
In the 226 games played so far, MS Dhoni-led side have won 131 games with the highest winning percentage of 58.96 (teams with 150+ matches). They have just lost 91 games in the tournament history.

Kolkata Knight Riders
The Shah Rukh Khan co-owned franchise have played 241 games so far in the IPL history, third most after Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
In the said games, they have won 119 games while also losing 114 matches in the proceedings. Their best result came in the IPL season 2012 and 2014, when they were crowned champions under the leadership of Gautam Gambhir. They also finished runners-up in the 2021 season under Eoin Morgan.

Royal Challengers Bangalore
The team who has played most IPL matches without winning a single IPL trophy in 16 years, the Bangalore-based franchise have won 114 games in the 243 they have played so far.
Even after no IPL trophy in their cabinet, they have reached legacy in the IPL stats list with them registering the IPL’s highest and lowest score in an innings. They compiled 263/2 in IPL 2013 against Pune Warriors India, while their lowest score 49 all-out came against KKR in IPL 2017.

Delhi Capitals
Formerly named as Delhi Daredevils, the franchise has played 239 games so far with winning only 105 games among them. They hold the record of losing most IPL games in the history with 127 losses to their name.
They have a winning percentage of mere 45.33 and their best result came in 2020 IPL, when they finished as runners-up to the Mumbai Indians.
