The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials including Secretary Jay Shah and President Roger Binny called for a meeting on Thursday, July 27 to discuss the preparations for the upcoming marquee event ODI World Cup in India. The meeting also reportedly discussed the possible change of date of the India vs Pakistan clash that has been slated for October 15 in Ahmedabad.

According to the reports by NDTV, members from the 10 venues were also invited to the meeting to take note of the preparations. However, the reports suggest that the biggest topic of discussion is around rescheduling the clash between arch-rivals, India and Pakistan. The big clash is scheduled to be held on October 15, but it could be moved to October 14, due to the first day of Navratri.
The reports also suggest that since the festival of Navratri holds great significance in the state of Gujarat, the security agencies advised the cricketing board to reschedule the match a day before the scheduled date. As per PTI, the India-Pakistan game won’t be held at any other stadium than the Narendra Modi Stadium, but if the game is rescheduled, it will also require the fans to change their travel plans.
Notably, as per the schedule announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC), the reigning champions England will take on the-then runner-up New Zealand in the opening game on October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The hosts will begin their campaign for the World Cup with a game against Australia on July 8.
