India all-rounder Shardul Thakur might be shown the exit door by his Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Capitals following a below-par performance last season. Thakur was bought for a whopping INR 10.75 Cr at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction and was expected to do wonders for DC. But the all-rounder could not perform to the expectations scoring only 120 runs in 14 games and conceding close to 10 runs in every over he bowled.

The DC management is reportedly looking to buy the all-rounder back at the IPL 2023 Auction at a lesser price. Along with Thakur, two more players are set to be released by DC. KS Bharat and Mandeep Singh are also set to part ways with the 2020 finalists. The two were bought for INR 2 Crore and INR 1.10 Crore respectively at the last auction.

Both the players had a not-so-good stint with the team. While KS Bharat did not get many opportunities with Rishabh Pant on the side, Mandeep Singh could not pounce on the opportunities he got. While Thakur may find his way back, these two don’t have any chance of getting their way back into the DC camp.

“It is reported that Thakur could be released by the Delhi franchise which may try to buy him back for a lesser price. Along with Thakur, wicketkeeper-batter KS Bharat and batter Mandeep Singh may also be released,” claimed a Cricbuzz report.

The teams have till November 15 to inform the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) about the players they intend to release. Notably, the auction is likely to be held on December 16 with either Istanbul in Turkey or Bengaluru being the venue. Meanwhile, there has been little or no activity in the trade window that has been open since the season ended.
