Indian ODI and Test skipper Shubman Gill caught eyes by commenting on an influencer’s post as he tagged former skipper Virat Kohli. Notably, Gill, apart from being at the helm of Indian team in two formats, enjoys a massive fan following on social media, especially amongst youngsters. Apart from him, Kohli and his wife, actor Anushka Sharma, are one of the most loved celebrity couples in India. While they were once highly active on social media, the couple has now started to maintain a low-key social life as they focus on parenthood. 

Recently, a content creator posted a reel as Kohli’s son, Akkay’s teacher, asking him to bring both his parents to school. The creator goes on to say that Akaay could also bring his Chachu (uncle), Shubman Gill instead. Not only did the reel go viral, but it also garnered attention from the young batter who went on to comment on it. Gill wrote, “(Virat Kohli) bhai, dw, I gotchu” (brother, don’t worry, i’ve got you covered). Needless to say, the entire thing went viral on social media, and fans started to tag Kohli on the reel. However, the former skipper hasn’t reacted to the post yet. 

Indian Team Management, Shubman Gill Make Special Request to BCCI Ahead of 2027 World Cup: Reports 

While the ODI World Cup 2027 is a year away, teams around the globe have already started to prepare for it. The Indian team management is also not leaving any stone unturned, considering how narrowly the Men in Blue missed the 2023 edition and suffered an absolute heartbreaking loss to Australia in Ahmedabad. According to latest reports, the BCCI has engaged in talks with Cricket South Africa (CSA) to organize a crucial ODI series between both the nations since the marquee tournament will primarily be held in South Africa. 

According to Indian Express, the BCCI made the move after a specific request made from the Indian management, currently led by head coach Gautam Gambhir and skipper Shubman Gill. Per reports, the talks are for an ODI series for four to six matches. However, the dates will be finalised later considering the BCCI is yet to decide India’s cricket tours following IPL 2027 and there is plenty of space in the Future Tours Programme to organise a series against the Proteas if need be.
