India Under-19 leg-spinner Rohit Yadav has been banned for two years by the BCCI after discrepancies were found in his age-related documents. The decision is a big setback for the youngster, who had recently made his India U-19 debut during the team’s tour of Sri Lanka in July. Yadav impressed on that tour, taking six wickets in the Youth Test and helping India secure a win. He was then selected for the upcoming home series against Australia U-19. However, his selection has now been cancelled following the BCCI’s action.
The issue came to light when Yadav’s documents were checked during the Sri Lanka tour. According to reports, he had three birth certificates showing different years of birth — 2007, 2009 and 2010. His Aadhaar records also showed different birth years at various stages. The Cricket Association of Bengal had already kept him out of its junior teams because of the discrepancies and later informed the BCCI. The board has now banned him from domestic cricket for two years and informed all state associations. Yadav is also among 62 players flagged by the CAB over age and documentation issues for the 2026-27 and 2027-28 seasons.

CAB cracks down on 62 cricketers over age and documentation discrepancies
The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has taken action against 62 cricketers after finding problems with their age and other documents. The players have been declared ineligible for registration or transfers during the 2026-27 and 2027-28 seasons. The list includes India Under-19 leg-spinner Rohit Yadav, former U-19 World Cup winner Ravi Kumar and left-arm spinner Vishal Bhatti. The action is part of a wider check by the CAB to make sure players’ records are accurate.
Ravi Kumar, who was part of India’s 2022 Under-19 World Cup-winning team, has been flagged for an age difference of around 45 months in the CAB records. The association has also found several other cases where players’ records show differences of multiple years. Yadav’s case has attracted even more attention after the BCCI banned him for two years over alleged age misrepresentation. He had recently played for India U-19 in Sri Lanka, taking six wickets, and was selected for the upcoming Australia series. The latest action means he will now miss those matches.
