Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell hailed Indian legendary batter and former skipper Virat Kohli as the greatest ODI player ever. Maxwell appeared on the ‘Keeping it Cricket’ podcast hosted by former Aussie cricketers Brad Haddin and Alyssa Healy, where he named his all-time bests across all the formats. When it came to the 50-over format, Maxwell named Kohli as his top pick while lauding his ability to time the bat well and put the ball into gaps seamlessly. 

“The best I ever saw in one-day cricket, is Kohli. Like, some of the innings he has played against us have been ridiculous. He has just got more time. He is able to put the ball where he wants in the field, and yeah, just a different level,” the 37-year-old said of Kohli. Apart from him, he picked Andre Russell in the T20 format and named his teammate Steven Smith as the best player in the Test format. 

Notably, Kohli has recorded 14, 941 runs to his name in 314 ODI games and 302 innings at an average of 58.59. He has 54 hundreds and 79 fifties to his name. Not only this, but he also maintains an incredible record in successful chases with 6,235 runs in 111 matches and 105 innings averaging at 89.07. In this particular year, Kohli has recorded 384 runs in six innings at an average of 64.00 and a strike rate of over 106, with one hundred and three fifties. 

Virat Kohli Extends Wishes on Krishna Janmashtami to Devotees 


The former Indian skipper took to social media to convey their greetings on the occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami to devotees. On his Instagram Story, Kohli shared a graphic that read, “Jai Shri Krishna, Happy Janmashtami to Everyone.” Apart from him, wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant also extended wishes on the holy occasion and wrote, “Wishing everyone a blessed Janmashtami.” Apart from them, former cricketer Suresh Raina as well as ICC Chairman Jay Shah sent their wishes to fellow devotees. 

Notably, the day marks the birth of Lord Krishna, the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu and is celebrated with great joy across India and in various parts of the world. Coming back to the talismanic batter, Kohli, who is only active in the 50-over format will now be back in action during the West Indies series starting late September.
