The Indian team will be a confident bunch after a 2-1 T20I series win against Sri Lanka last week. The action will now switch to the ODI
format, which will mark World Cup 2023 preparations for both teams. India’s key
pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who was drafted into the squad, will miss the series due
to not being fully fit.
The veteran batters, captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will
return to the fold, while Mohammed Shami will bring his experience to the
line-up as well. Furthermore, KL Rahul will be afresh after a week-long break.
Here’s the probable Playing XI of the Indian team for the 1st ODI.
Top-order: Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli 
In a tough choice between Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill, the
team management are likely to choose the latter, as he is likely to be the
opener for the Men in Blue in the 2023 WC. Although Kishan hit a double ton in his
last ODI innings, Gill holds a prolific average of 57.25 in this format.
On the other hand, the skipper Rohit will look to find his
lost touch and steer the team in the right direction. At number three, Kohli did
well in the Bangladesh ODI series and is expected to continue the good form.

Middle-order: Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wk), Hardik Pandya,
Axar Patel 
Although Suryakumar Yadav has been terrific in T20Is, and Shreyas
Iyer might trump him to find a place in the 50-over format due to his
impressive run in the recent series. Then, KL Rahul will don the wicket-keeping
gloves.
The all-rounders Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel have been impressive
in the T20Is and will play a key role in this format as well.

Singh
The Indian bowling unit is strong in the presence of Shami,
who has over the years, excelled in his art to contain runs in the death overs.
Yuzvendra Chahal will be the first-choice spinner and is likely to be preferred
over Kuldeep Yadav.
Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh will have the duty to take
wickets with the new ball.
