Mumbai
Indians had most of their core ready ahead of the IPL 2023 auction. Recently, they
received the good news of Jofra Archer returning to the international circuit. As
a result, the franchise needed to focus on the fast-bowling all-rounder and a
spinner, who would fill the gaps witnessed in the 2022 season.
Certainly,
the franchise had a fine auction, wherein they secured the services of eight
players. The prominent one was Cameron Green, who was bought at a whopping price of 17.5
Crores. Then, Jhye Richardson, Piyush Chawla and Shams Mulani were among the players picked by MI.

Top-order: Ishan
Kishan, Cameron Green, Suryakumar Yadav
The
top-order of Mumbai looks well composed in terms of experience. Ishan Kishan is
already the established opener, but with the addition of Cameron Green, they
might put Rohit Sharma at number four. The rationale behind this decision can
be Green’s impressive performance for Australia against India. At No. 3,
Suryakumar Yadav will be looking to continue his rich form for the team.

Middle-order:
Rohit Sharma, Tilak Varma, Tim David, Ramandeep Singh
The change
in the batting order will mean the skipper Rohit is likely to be a key person
in the middle overs. Afterwards, Tilak Varma and Tim David were terrific for
the team in the 2022 edition and, hence will retain their places. Then, bowling all-rounder, Ramandeep Singh could be the number
seven.

Bowlers: Kumar
Kartikeya, Jofra Archer, Jhye Richardson, Jasprit Bumrah
Kumar
Kartikeya was impressive in the IPL 2022 and might trump Piyush Chawla for the
No.8 slot. The pace battery is terrific, with the trio having rich experience
in T20s. Jhye has been superb in the ongoing BBL, while Archer and Bumrah could
be the potent option in the powerplay as well as death overs.
