Rohit Sharma is expected to report to the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru on June 8 for a thorough fitness test, specifically because of a hamstring injury that he sustained during an IPL match for the Mumbai Indians. He is scheduled to spend about three days at the CoE undergoing various tests. This will include specific medical evaluations, training sessions, and batting under lights. If the medical team clears him, he will join the Indian squad in Dharamshala on June 11 to prepare for the first Afghanistan ODI on June 13.

“Yes, Rohit is supposed to report to the CoE on June 8. He should be there for three days and has a few sessions lined up, including batting under lights on one ground. He will then join the Indian team in Dharamshala on June 11, two days ahead of the first ODI against Afghanistan on June 13,” reported Gaurav Gupta from TOI.

Rohit Sharma’s participation in the upcoming three-match ODI series against Afghanistan and the Ireland series later completely depends on his fitness test clearance.

Ryan Ten Doeschate provides update on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s fitness

India’s assistant coach Ryan Ten Doeschate said that an official announcement would come on the fitness concerns of India’s star batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli after a thorough medical checkup. He was also vocal about the fact that both the batters definitely grab more attention due to their popularity, but the process remains similar to that followed for any other specific player in the team in terms of fitness clearance.

"At this stage, the medical staff are continuing to evaluate the fitness of both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Given the stature of players like them, there's naturally a lot of attention around their availability, but the process remains the same as it would for any player.” Ryan Ten Doeschate said at the pre-match press conference.

“The team management will carefully review the medical reports, training progress, and overall readiness before making a final decision. We still have some time before the squad needs to be finalised, which allows us to make the best decision for both the players and the team.

Once all assessments are completed and the medical team is satisfied with the findings, an official update will be shared regarding their status," he further added.

Both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have picked up hamstring injuries during IPL matches, where the former awaits fitness clearance, but the latter will already miss the Afghanistan tour.
