In what is a striking and important piece of cricketing development and one that points to the island nation of Sri Lanka, the SLC aka the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has just announced the national player contracts for the ongoing 2026-27 season. No fewer than 46 cricketers, which is a list that includes 7 new players, has been awarded.
Now, having said that the central contracts are - as per usual- categorised under A1, A2, B1, B2, and C1 grades. These said grades are based on several metrics such as Performance, Consistency, Fitness, Potential as well as Strategic Requirements. Having said that, what is important to note here is that the SLC hasn’t quite revealed- at least as of now- as to which player falls under which category.
That brings up the most important question of them perhaps at this time. That as far as the new names in the central contract for representing Sri Lankan cricket is concerned, who could the picks?

The likes of Kamil Mishara, Lasith Croospulle, Vijayakanth Viyaskanth, Isitha Wijesundera, Wanuja Sahan, Dilum Sudeera, and Tharindu Rathnayake are the new inclusions in the Central Contracts for the men’s Sri Lankan cricket.
