Pakistan and Multan Sultans fast bowler Shahnawaz Dahani talked about how meeting former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni at the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup was a dream come true. “It will take a lot of time for me to explain the level of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Meeting him was a dream come true and I can’t forget that moment. His words were quite beneficial as he told me about life, how to live life, respecting the elders”, said Dahani.
“He told that there will be bad and good days in cricket but you have to embrace it and stay dedicated to the game you love the most,” Dahani told in an interview with Cricket Pakistan.
The 23-year-old also spoke on how former New Zealand fast bowler pushed to be a pacer and his desire to meet English speedster Jofra Archer. Dahani said, “I used to follow New Zealand’s Shane Bond and wanted to become a pacer with fast speed just like him but after his retirement, I started to follow England’s Jofra Archer and my wish is to meet him soon.”
The youngster also discussed his experience of being part of the Multan Sultans’ family as they have been one of the best teams in the 2022 PSL. They have had an incredible season as they have lost just one out of the ten league games and are already in the finals of the tournament.
“Our environment in the team is just like a family. Our captain is cool and kind. We have all the freedom from him to execute our plans and a player performs when he is provided freedom and the inside fear vanishes away,” he added.
Shahnawaz Dahani has had an amazing 2022 PSL season as he has picked up 16 wickets from ten games with an average of 18.88. He also was a crucial cog in Multan’s clinical performance in the qualifiers as he took crucial wickets, restricting Lahore Qalandars to a score of 135 - 9. Dahani ended the game with the figures of 3 for 19 in four overs with an economy of 4.75, winning the Player of the Match award.
