India head coach Rahul Dravid on Sunday felicitated star batter Virat Kohli and presented him with a special memento for his 100th Test ahead of Day 1 of the first Test between India and Sri Lanka. Kohli was accompanied by his wife Anushka as he achieves the rare feat. While fascinating Kohli, Dravid said that it’s well deserved and well-earned milestone for Indian batter and also wished Kohli to “double it up.”

Virat Kohli, in response, thanked BCCI and his teammates for always supporting him and expressed his gratitude towards Rahul David, whom he regarded as one of his childhood heroes. Kohli didn’t shy away from accepting that he still has Dravid’s poster in his room. “It is a special moment for me. My wife is here, and so is my brother. Everyone is very proud. It is indeed a team game, and it couldn’t have been possible without you. With the amount we play with three formats and an IPL, the one takeaway the next generation can take from me is that I played 100 games in the purest format,” said Kohli.

From scoring a mere 4 and 15 on his Test debut against the West Indies at Sabina Park in 2011, Kohli has come a long way in over a decade-long journey in which he has amassed 7962 runs at a stellar average of 50.39 in the most extended format.
