Harshal Patel has dramatically turned his fortunes all around in the last few years. The bowling all-rounder was bought by Delhi Capitals for INR 20 lakh at IPL 2018 auction and following not so impressive performances, he was traded to Royal Challengers Bangalore a couple of seasons later. However, this is when the Harshal 2.0 version arrived in IPL.
The 31-year-old ended up as the purple-cap holder last season, taking 32 wickets. He was indeed the pick of the bowlers in UAE with the different kinds of variations that he displayed. As expected, he was going to start a bidding war at IPL 2022 mega auction and he was eventually bought back by RCB for a massive amount of INR 10.25 Crore.

While many fans were delighted to see Harshal Patel getting rewarded for his heroics last season, there was a section of people who were not happy with how things were unfolding as a veteran like Raina was getting unsold and one-season wonders were getting massive contracts. However, the truth is that this is how auctions work, where the recent form is key to everyone’s decision.
Really pleased for Harshal Patel.
The days of no bid to lots of competition.

It will be intriguing to see if Harshal Patel can live up to the expectations and faith shown by RCB on him going ahead. Apart from him, the franchise also signed Faf du Plessis for INR 7 Cr earlier in the auction.
