LPL tournament director Samantha Dodanwela has revealed that the plan behind organising the league’s this season at the year’s end serves the objective of aligning the tournament with T20 World Cup 2026.
The Lanka Premier League was inaugurated in 2020 with the involvements of five teams: Colombo Strikers, Dambulla Thunders, Galle Marvels, Jaffna Kings and Kandy Falcons.

B-Love Kandy will play the tournament opener with Dambulla Thunders on July 1.
