An 11-year-old boy named Shaurya Kalidas Khandve from Pune tragically lost his life after the ball hit his private parts while playing cricket with his friends at the Jagatguru Sports Academy Ground in the Lohegaon area on Thursday, May 2. A case of accidental death was registered in the matter on May 4 at the Vimantal police station in Pune.

The incident, which was caught on CCTV camera, took place around 9 PM on May 2, at the Jagatguru Sports Academy Ground when Shaurya was bowling. The batter struck the ball towards him, which hit him on his private parts, and moments later, he collapsed on the ground.

The friends of Shaurya immediately went towards him, with one of them trying to revive him. Shortly after, the 11-year-old was rushed to a nearby private hospital where the doctors declared him dead.

As per the Indian Express report, an officer from the Vimantal police station said the following about the incident, “Initial information suggests that Shaurya had gone to play cricket with friends at the Jagatguru Sports Academy Ground which has night playing facilities. Shaurya was bowling and when the batsman hit the ball, it struck Shaurya on his private parts and he collapsed to the ground due to the impact. He was rushed to a private hospital nearby where he was pronounced dead by the doctors.”

The case, which is investigated by the Assistant Inspector of Vimantal police station, Sachin Dhamane, said, “We have registered a case of accidental death and a probe has been launched. We will be examining the autopsy report and will be speaking to the players on the ground.”

Moreover, Shaurya Kalidas Khandve, who was fondly called Shambhu, had dreams of pursuing a career in wrestling as per his relatives. He is survived by his parents and an elder brother.
