What are the rules in men’s 10m air rifle finals?
The Olympic Games’ format is divided into two parts. In the first attempt, the athletes fire two series of five shots each, with a time limit of 250 seconds per series. Following this, they proceed to the second part, which consists of 14 single shots. Each of these shots is fired on command, and the athletes have 50 seconds to complete each one.
After the tenth shot, which includes the two series and the first two single shots, the lowest scoring finalists start getting eliminated. The eliminations continue after every two shots until only the gold and silver medalists remain. In total, the finalists fire 24 shots, making the highest possible score to aggregate 261.6 points.
In the event of a tie for the lowest ranking athlete to be eliminated, the tied athletes will continue to fire additional single shots until the tie is broken, ensuring a clear ranking for all finalists.
