In an extremely competitive tournament like IPL, where getting roped in by a franchise doesn’t guarantee the place in playing 11, it becomes very important for players to make their presence felt on field. With a wide range of capped Indian players as well as overseas T20 specialists available in IPL, it gets even more difficult for uncapped Indians to get an opportunity to prove themselves. However, IPL has always been the platform wherein youngsters have been game-changers and emerged as phenomenal players for their respective home teams.

With 2022 mega auction being a grand event which will involve a massive transfer of players, franchises would look forward to only picking players who have delivered in the previous years and can add value to their side. Every year, many players across various teams don’t get a chance to feature in the playing 11, which diminishes their chances of being picked in the next season.

Given the kind of season SRH have had, it’s no surprise that there are players who have failed to deliver. Let’s have a look at 3 such players from Sunrisers Hyderabad who might be seen for the last time in IPL 2021.

3 players from SRH who might be seen for last time in IPL 2021

1.) Shreevats Goswami

Shreevats Goswami

The Indian wicketkeeper-batsman has had a very poor record across all seasons, with 293 runs to his name across 31 matches. Goswami made his debut in 2008 for RCB right after his impressive contributions in the U-19 World Cup in Malaysia. However, the 32-year-old has been far from being impressive in the T20 tournament and has barely featured in the playing 11 in the last few years. With the emergence of Wriddhiman Saha as a full time wicketkeeper-batsman for SRH, Goswami has found it difficult to get a place in the playing 11. In IPL 2021, despite SRH making numerous changes in every game, Shreevats Goswami still didn’t feature in a single match. With everything being said, it’s likely that the wicketkeeper-batsman might’ve been seen for the last time in IPL 2021.

2.) Jagadeesha Suchith

The left-arm spinner from Mysuru has gotten a handful of opportunities to play in the IPL and has failed to make his presence count in all of his outings. The 27-year-old has managed to pick only 12 wickets in 17 matches across all seasons. Suchith featured in just 2 games in IPL 2021 wherein he scored 14 runs picking 0 wickets, thus failing to make an impact. Although the 27-year-old had a relatively good season in 2015 when he played for Mumbai Indians, scoring 337 runs and picking 10 wickets, his performance dropped in the subsequent seasons. Given his record of the last couple years, it’s possible that Suchith might not be picked by any franchise in the IPL 2022 mega auction.

3.) Sherfane Rutherford

The West Indies all-rounder is relatively new to the IPL scene, having made his debut in the Indian T20 tournament in the 2019. However he only managed to score 73 runs and pick just 1 wicket when he played for Delhi Capitals in 2019. Though Rutherford is known for his power-hitting ability, there have barely been occasions when the all-rounder has showcased the same in IPL. He joined SRH in 2021 as the replacement for Jonny Bairstow in the UAE leg. However, he pulled out of IPL 2021 because of his father’s sudden death and as a result didn’t play a single game this season. Given his record in the 2019 season and his absence thereafter, it won’t be shocking if franchises refrain from picking the all-rounder at the mega auction.
