The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season has been quite a difficult tournament for the bowlers with the advent of the Impact Player rule, allowing the teams to keep batting aggressively, and to aim for big totals consistently. But, amidst all the carnage, there have been quite a few bowlers in the IPL, who have managed to keep the batters honest with their ability to be accurate and bowl variations at the right time.

Matheesha Pathirana managed to play only six matches in the IPL 2024 for Chennai Super Kings due to injury issues, but he, made a telling impact for the five-time champions with the ball in hand, picking up 13 wickets at an economy of just 7.68. The 21-year-old, who has a bowling action quite similar to the fellow Sri Lankan Lasith Malinga, will be required to play a pivotal role in helping the national team in their quest to win the T20 World Cup once again.
