Indian talismanic batter and truly a modern-day icon, Virat Kohli made an honest admission on his recent performances ahead of the fourth BGT Test. On Thursday, December 26, Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team locked horns with Pat Cummins’ Australia in the highly-anticipated Boxing Day Test. Before the game started at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Indian legendary batter Virat Kohli engaged in a conversation with former cricketer and India head coach Ravi Shastri, and made an honest admission about his form.
Kohli spoke about his performance in the past few innings where he has failed to come up with a remarkable knock. He accepted that he couldn’t perform in the last few innings the way he wanted to. Not only this, but he also talked about his approach in the match and the responsibility that falls on his shoulders.
I haven’t been disciplined enough: Virat Kohli’s honest admission on form slump
The former Indian captain talked about his form slump and said, "Yeah, I agree that the last 2 or 3 innings haven't gone the way I wanted to. I haven't been disciplined enough to stick in there and, you know, really grind it out and that's what the challenge that Test cricket brings. Obviously, these pitches are, are much livelier than the last time that we played here, so there's a different approach that's required, but that's something that I've taken a lot of pride in to go out there and encounter different conditions and step up when the team wants me to or needs me to.”
He added, “The idea is to get stuck in, as I said. Go in there, get your eyes set in, play enough balls that you start playing your game afterwards but respect the conditions foremost.”
