Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians are the strongest teams in the Indian Premier League. Both teams are the joint-most winners of the cash-rich league as they have won five trophies each since the inception of the tournament in 2008. Better knockout record
Chennai Super Kings have played a total of 14 seasons as they were banned for the 2016 and 2017 editions of the tournament. Out of those 14 seasons, CSK reached the playoff stages a total of 12 times and made it to the finals 10 times, which is the highest by any franchise. On the other hand, MI have qualified for the playoffs 10 times in 16 seasons. They have reached the IPL finals six times.
