Argentine footballing legend Lionel Messi penned an emotional note dedicated to his team ahead of the Copa America 2024 final. La Albiceleste will take on Colombia in the final of the continental tournament at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. Argentina took down Canada 2-0 thanks to goals from Julian Alvarez and Messi in the semi-final as they gear up to defend their title.
Despite not having a massive impact on the tournament, Messi has been one of Argentina's most important players with one goal and six assists. With the final few hours away, the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner shared a heartfelt message for his teammates and support staff.
Messi pens emotional note ahead of Argentina's Copa America final
The note read, "Last day of Copa America. Once again we reached the end... This incredible road would have been impossible without the hard work of everyone, the ones who watch the most and the ones who are always behind the camera."
"Thanks to all for the effort and passion, to all the teammates and the technical body, to the workers of the National Team and all the Argentinians who came to encourage us to America and to those who could not come but support us from our country and also from other places where they are living. A big hug to all, come on Argentina."
I lost my fear, I felt better: Lionel Messi
Messi, while speaking to Dsports, spoke about physically feeling better ahead of the final. He said, “With Canada, I felt very good physically. With Chile, I had an adductor problem and I no longer played comfortably. I was already slowed down, it bothered me when I had to stand up or move laterally.
And with Ecuador, I arrived just in time too. I was fine from the injury, but I had that in my head that I had something wrong. In the last match [against Canada] I lost my fear, I felt better and for the final, I will feel better,” he added.
