The inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League was launched this year with an aim to unearth some hidden gems of Indian cricket and the move seems to be working straight away. A couple of unheard names have already created an impact on cricket fans and Mumbai Indians’ Shaika Ishaque is one of them. The left-arm orthodox has straight away left an impression on the fans as well as experts.
She ran through the Gujarat Giants' batting line up and picked up four wickets in her debut game. Ishaque continued to impress with her consistency. The left-arm orthodox picked up a couple of more wickets against Royal Challengers Bangalore to go up the ladder in the most wickets chart. And now, when Mumbai took on undefeated Delhi Capitals in their third game of the season, Ishaque picked up three big wickets to further extend her lead in the Purple Cap race.
The left-arm bowler dismissed Shafali Varma, Meg Lanning, and Jemimah Rodrigues to take her wickets tally to nine this season so far.
With Ishaque continuing to impress, fans went crazy on social media hailing the uncapped spinner. While some were in awe of her consistency, some already want the left-arm to make her India debut.
