Kolkata Knight Riders registered their first win of the season, thrashing Royal Challengers Bangalore by 81 runs on April 6 at the Eden Gardens. Shardul Thakur’s remarkable game of 68 runs in 29 balls in the match helped the Kolkata team register their first win of the tournament. A brilliant knock with the help of 9 fours and 3 sixes, Thakur dominated all the headlines with his power show during the match.

Many people have praised the KKR all-rounder for his dominating innings. Amongst the thousands who were all praise for the Knight Riders, one was India’s legendary batter Virendra Sehwag. Sehwag, who is also known for his witty remarks on social platforms, took to his Twitter and praised Thakur in a special way, and called him ‘Lord’.

Sehwag's tweet read, “Lord Shardul .. Lord Rinku .. Zabardast clean hitting #RcbvKKR."

However, when Shardul was told about this by the KKR-batter Rahamanullah Gurbaz, he responded humbly to it. Shardul replied with a big smile and said he has learned from the former Indian batter only.

Replying to Sehwag’s tweet, Shardul said, "Paaji, aap se hi to seekhe hai. Aap to Guru ho clean hitting ke. Aapse accha kaun maarta hai fast bowler ko? Hum bhi dekh dekh ke hi seekhe hai. (Sir, I have learnt it from you only. Who else could hit a fast bowler better than you? We have learnt by watching you play).”

After thrashing Bangalore boys with a notable 81-run defeat, Kolkata-based team will square off against the defending IPL champions, Gujarat Titans on April 9.
