On Friday, March 28, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated five-time champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 50 runs to make it two in two in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. While it was the first instance of RCB registering two straight wins at the start of the season, for CSK, it was their biggest defeat at home in the tournament history.
For the unversed, Ruturaj Gaikwad, the CSK captain won the toss and chose to field first. Phil Salt played a brisk inning of 16-ball 32, Virat Kohli struggled as he departed having scored 30-ball 31. The skipper, Rajat Patidar led from the front, playing a 32-ball 51 to help post a competitive score on the board. However, it looked an above par total on a Chepauk pitch, CSK were seen struggling as wickets kept falling at crucial intervals.
Although, Rachin Ravindra once again held the fortress, but was cleaned up by Yash Dayal. Ravindra Jadeja looked good, playing a 19-ball 25, veteran cricketer, MS Dhoni also showed glimpses of his brilliance, scoring a 16-ball 30*, but it wasn’t just enough to chase the 197-run target and succummbed to their biggest defeat at home.

The third match for CSK in their IPL 2025 campaign will be against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Sunday, March 30, while RCB will play at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru for the first-time this season against Gujarat Titans (GT) on Wednesday, April 2.
