Amit Shah, the Home Minister of India, spoke about the prospect of the country hosting the 2036 Olympics at the upcoming Sardar Patel Complex, located close to the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Notably, the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced India’s intention to bid for the 2036 Olympics during his speech at the 141st IOC Session in Mumbai.
It has been reported by the PTI that the government in the Indian state of Gujarat is currently collaborating with the top firms to develop sporting infrastructure to host an event like the Olympics. The upcoming Sardar Patel Complex in the city of Ahmedabad is one such infrastructure project.

During his speech at the inauguration of the Sansad Khel Pratiyogita, a sports event organised in Gandhinagar, Amit Shah spoke about how Narendra Modi had asked the Indian MPs to promote sports in their respective constituencies. He was quoted as saying, “This competition will last for one-and-half months. I will join you after the finals. Sports brings out sportsmanship in us. It is important to lose with grace and have a winning habit. Those who play badly in sports or politics are said to be lacking in sportsmanship.”
The Indian Home Minister also detailed the plan s of the government in regards to bidding for the Olympics in 2036 and said, “It will host the 2036 Olympics (if India's bid is accepted). The government has allocated Rs 4600 crore for Sardar Patel Sports Complex and Rs 600 crore for Navrangpura Sports Complex (in Ahmedabad city). This will be India's biggest sports complex.” He also remarked that the government is spending a lot of money to create a sporting culture in the state of Gujarat.
