On Monday, February 26, Hanuma Vihari spoke about feeling “humiliated and embarrassed” by the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) for abrupt removal from the Andhra captaincy role after the first Ranji Trophy match earlier in the season. Shortly after, he shared a letter addressing the ACA officials, signed by his teammates, wanting him to become the Ranji team captain again.
After Andhra lost their quarter-final match of the Ranji Trophy against Madhya Pradesh by four runs, Hanuma Vihari took to his official X account to reveal why he was removed from captaincy earlier in the season. During a hard-fought draw against Bengal in the first game of the new Ranji season, Hanuma Vihari had shouted at the 17th man in KN Prudhviraj, who had complained about it to his politician dad, whose influence led to ACA taking action against him.
Following that, Hanuma Vihari shared a letter signed by his teammates on X, addressed to the ACA President, Secretary, and CEO, in which the matter involving him and KN Prudhviraj was mentioned in detail without taking the latter’s name. The excerpts of the letter read, “As Andhra Ranji team players we want Vihari to lead our side.”
Hanuma Vihari comments about Andhra support staff being soft targets for ACA
Hanuma Vihari further commented about how the ACA will have a meeting with the Andhra support staff, who are soft targets for them to use against him. The 30-year-old shared a screenshot on his official X account, in which he wrote, “What next?? They’ll call support staff for meeting as soft targets as they’ve jobs to say against me. Keep trying ACA!!”
With the back-to-back claims from Hanuma Vihari against the ACA, it will be interesting to see how this controversial matter evolves in the coming days and weeks.
