The Chicago Sky forward, Angel Reese, sent out a cryptic post on X after an upset WNBA win for Chicago Sky at the Barclays Center against the New York Liberty 90-81. The 22-year-old also appeared to have taken a dig at Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever in a now-deleted post regarding the better facilities for teams and players within the WNBA.
Notably, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever became the first team in the WNBA to receive a chartered flight this season, but it hasn’t yet happened for Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky. Despite that, the Fever are yet to win a game in the season with their rookie phenom Clark, losing five on the bounce to find themselves at the bottom of the pile in 12th place.
In a now-deleted post on her official X account, Angel Reese wrote, “And that’s on getting a WIN in a packed area not just cause of one player on our charter flight. #SKYTOWN.” This came after she spoke to the reporters about how the growth in women’s basketball needs to be about everyone.
As per the report from the New York Post, Angel Reese said, “It’s not just one person, I think people don’t realize that (because) the narrative out there is that just one person changing the game. It’s a lot of us - me, Kamilla (Cardoso), there’s Cameron (Brink), Rickea (Jackson). There’s so many great players and it’s been long overdue and just being able to see that our impact has been able to change the game. I love it for us all, and we’re just going to continue to keep going.”
Moreover, on Thursday night, Marina Mabrey put on a sparkling performance for the Chicago Sky, scoring 21 points with six rebounds and seven assists against the WNBA 2023 runners-up New York Liberty. Angel Reese scored 13 points including nine rebounds and one assist, to ensure that the Sky upset the Liberty in front of their home fans at the Barclays Center.
