India suffered a shocking defeat against Australia in the ODI World Cup 2023 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, 19th November 2023. The Men in Blue, who were invited to bat first by the Australian captain, Pat Cummins, posted 240 runs on the board with half-centuries from Virat Kohli (54) and KL Rahul (66) along with a crucial knock by skipper Rohit Sharma.
However, the Indian bowlers failed to capitalised in the second innings as a century knock from Travis Head looked lethal and eventually helped the visitors clinch their sixth World Cup title. Soon after this heartbreaking loss, while Virat Kohli hid his face with the cap, Rohit Sharma, Mohammed Siraj were seen in tears.
In another instance doing rounds on social media, former India skipper and highest run-getter at the CWC 2023 was seen rushing to wife and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma. The couple was seen sharing a hug as reports suggest that Anushka was consoling Virat for this heartbreaking loss.

While India finished as the runners-up in the recently concluded ODI World Cup 2023, the Men in Blue were unbeaten in the majority of the tournament, entering the final on a 10-match winning streak. On the other hand, Australia lost their two matches early in the tournament against India and South Africa, but thereafter won all their matches, including the final.
