Mesut Ozil spent the majority of his club footballing career with Arsenal from 2013-2021, making 184 appearances wherein he scored 33 goals. The 35-year-old won the FA Cup a whopping four times with the English club, apart from being the runner-up in the EFL Cup and UEFA Europa League once each.
Although he left Arsenal in 2021 to join Fenerbahce and Istanbul Basaksehir in the next two football seasons, Mesut Ozil has been a constant supporter of the London-based club on social media and in interviews. When the details around Leonardo DiCaprio emerged in regards to not knowing about Mesut Ozil’s former club, he sent out a post on X to mock him and said, “Arsenal Football Club is older than 25 years … so why should he know? #YaGunnersYa”.
The subtle dig from Ozil at DiCaprio’s reported preference for dating women under the age of 25 caused quite a stir on the social media platform X, which has been a trend of its own in the past few years. Moreover, the 49-year-old Hollywood star had recently ended a five-year relationship with model Camilla Morrone, who was just 20 years of age when they started dating in 2017.
