During the UEFA Champions League (UCL) clash against Shakhtar Donetsk at the Emirates, Arsenal managed to achieve a narrow 1-0 win but not before left-back Riccardo Calafiori got forced off the field due to an apparent injury during the second half. With that, the injury concerns at Arsenal have worsened as they already have the likes of captain Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka, Jurrien Timber, and a few other players sidelined with their respective fitness issues from the recent past.

After taking a lead in the 29th minute with an own goal from Dmytro Riznyk, Arsenal managed to see out a tight UCL clash versus Shakhtar Donetsk at home with the teenager Myles Lewis-Skelly replacing Riccardo Calafiori in the second half. But, going into the upcoming high stakes match on the weekend against Liverpool in the Premier League, Arsenal might not have Riccardo Calafiori available to them.

Not great news: Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta on injury concerns in team

In the post-match press conference, Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, expressed concern about the growing list of players on the injury list for the club, stating that it’s “not great news.” Furthermore, they will also be missing key defender William Saliba for their clash versus Liverpool in the Premier League due to suspension, which was given to him for his red card during their 0-2 loss to Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

Mikel Arteta addressed the injury to Riccardo Calafiori, stating, “He felt something and couldn’t continue playing. It’s a bit of a worry.” Furthermore, the 42-year-old also talked about how Bukayo Saka is yet to train in the build-up to the Liverpool contest when asked about his involvement in it, and said, “He (Bukayo Saka) wasn’t able to train yet, so it’s unlikely.”
