Arshdeep Singh, one of the most sought-after left-arm fast bowlers from India, is set to make his debut in County Championship Division One on June 11, Sunday. He will be turning up for Kent at the Saint Lawrence Ground in Canterbury against Surrey.
The 24-year-old cricketer has signed for five County Championship matches with Kent, who had made an announcement about his availability for the cricket club in March of this year. In his short Ranji Trophy career for Punjab, he has played seven matches and picked up 25 wickets at an average of 23.84 with a five-wicket haul.
The most notable performances from Arshdeep Singh have come in T20I cricket for Team India. Since making his international debut in the format against England in Southampton on July 7, 2022, he has been a part of 26 matches and taken 41 wickets at an economy of 8.39. During this past year, the Madhya Pradesh-born cricketer has put the fans and experts on notice with his incredible death bowling skills, the yorkers being his prime weapon.
In his Indian Premier League career spanning five seasons, the left-arm fast bowler has competed in 51 matches while picking up 57 wickets at 8.74 economy. In the 2023 season, Arshdeep Singh had one of his best IPL returns, taking 17 wickets in 14 matches with an economy of 9.70.
Meanwhile, Kent, in the 2023 County Championship Division One, have been struggling for positive results in the first couple of months. They are languishing in second last place on the points table with only one win and two draws in six matches. Also, their upcoming opponents on June 11, Sunday, Surrey, are sitting in first place on the County Championship Division One standings with four wins and two draws in six matches.
