Indian squash star Dipika Pallikal spoke about her husband and Royal Challengers Bengaluru veteran Dinesh Karthik and said that the cricketer moves on once he’s contented. Karthik played his last IPL game during the Eliminator clash of the 2024 season against Rajasthan Royals. The game saw RR clinching a four-wicket win to advance to the IPL 2024 qualifier 2, where they will be up against SRH to book a final date against the KKR. After the Eliminator clash, RCB’s official handle uploaded a video tribute to the finisher.
The video featured some of Karthik’s important figures, his RCB teammates, and his wife Dipika Pallikal where she told a lot about the veteran cricketer. Pallikal said, “There’s been different DKs, over the last ten years that we’ve been together, I think every two years he tries to reinvent himself. And I feel like, as a wife also, I see that difference in him. Over the last four to five years, I think that’s when he’s really enjoyed the sport.”
She added, “One of the things that I’ve really learned about him and his career is, well, if he. If he doesn’t do well, he’s dropped from the team. I think it’s just two or three days where he’s at a lul and then he’s back on his feet thinking about what to do next. I think at a stage where DK is now, he’s very content with what he has done and what he’s achieved and I think that’s the most important thing with any athlete, is to try and be content with the work you’ve put in all these years.”
The Indian squash star continued to say, “It’s not going to be easy moving away from the game because this is all he has done all his life. But I think he’s a person who as long as he’s content, is ready to move on in life. So he’s done well for himself and his family and he just has to be proud of it,” she spoke on what it means to step away from the sport. While Karthik didn’t announce his retirement, but the video indicates that the game might be the last time fans saw DK on the ground.
