The 16th edition of the Asia Cup, one of the premier tournaments in the world of cricket, will be played in the ODI format from August 30 onwards, in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. While the opening match of the competition will have Pakistan take on Nepal in Multan, India will take on arch-rivals Pakistan in their tournament opener whereas Bangladesh will play defending champions Sri Lanka.
Talking about India, the Rohit Sharma-led side will take on arch-rivals Pakistan in the group stage, followed by a match against Nepal, Bangladesh will begin against Sri Lanka in Kandy, followed by a match against Afghanistan. India, Nepal and Pakistan are placed in Group A, while Bangladesh is in Group B along with Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.
