Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh by 21 runs to register the first win of the Super 4s stage. After edging away Afghanistan, the Lankans returned home with a big win over arch-rivals. Sadeera Samarawickrama starred in the first innings with a high-quality 93 around a struggling batting effort. Then in the second innings, Maheesh Theekshana and Dasun Shanaka ran through Bangladesh, to carry the host to a big win.

After winning the toss, Bangladesh invited Sri Lanka to bat first and managed to dismiss opener Damuth Karunaratne in the sixth over. After the early wicket, Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Medis steadied the ship and posted a 74-run partnership. But as the partnership broke in the 24th over, the Lankans were once again in trouble and lost multiple wickets in a short span.
But anchoring Sri Lanka through the collapse, Sadeera Samarawickrama batted wonderfully to rebuild the innings. Unfortunately for Samarawickrama, other Lankan batters couldn't support him as continued to score runs while wickets fell at the end. As the first innings concluded, Samarawickrama got out at 93 in 72 balls with eight fours and two sixes and helped Sri Lanka post a 258-run total.
In the second innings, Bangladesh had a solid start with a 55-run partnership between Mohammad Naim and Mehidy Hasan Miraz. But after Miraz's wicket, the Bangla Tigers had a big collapse as they went from 55-1 to 83-4. After losing Naim, Litton Das and Shakib Al Hasan; Mushfiqur Rahim and Towhid Hridoy started a rescue job with a 72-run partnership.
However, after Rahim's wicket, Towhid Hridoy continued scoring until the 42nd over when Maheesh Theekshana dismissed Shamim Hossain before dismissing the 22-year-old at 82. Theekshana continued his form and picked up his third wicket in two back-to-back overs. Soon the tail collapsed and the Lankans registered their first win of the Super 4s stage.
