India took down Sri Lanka to reach the final of the Asia Cup 2023. After winning the toss, the Indian team started positively with the bat as captain Rohit Sharma continued his stunning form. The Sharma and Shubman Gill duo posted an 80-run in 12 overs. But after Gill's dismissal, it was the Dunith Wellalage show as the young left-arm spinner picked up three wickets in his first three overs.

Wellalage sent back Gill, Sharma and Virat Kohli in back-to-back overs before running through the Indian batting order by also dismissing KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya. Supporting the left-armer, Charith Asalanka also picked up a four-wicket haul as the Men in Blue were bundled at 213 in 49.2 overs.
Unlike their batting effort, the Indian bowlers had an incredible performance with Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj putting on a fast-bowling clinic. This pace-bowling one-two punch reduced Sri Lanka to 25-3 in 7.1 overs and created the perfect platform for the spinners.
After the first powerplay, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja took over as the Lankan middle order started crumbling. But rescuing the sinking Sri Lankan inning, Dhananjay de Silva and star with the ball, Wellage stitched up a crucial partnership which was broken by Jadeja. As the match neared its final stages, Hardik Pandya turned up with a golden arm before Yadav completed his four-wicket haul to help register a 41-run win.
