India’s medal at the ongoing Asian Games 2023 surpassed it’s best ever record as Praveen Hooda settled for a bronze in women’s 57kg boxing event. The 23-year-old Indian became the fourth boxer to secure a medal at the Games. Earlier, the Indian boxer had also sealed her Paris Olympics berth.

The 23-year-old lost to two-time World Champion Lin Yu Ting of Chinese Taipei by 5-0 in the semifinal on October 4, Wednesday. Earlier, Preeti Pawar and Narender Berwal settled for bronze after losing their respective semifinals bout on October 3, while Lovlina Borgohain confirmed her finals berth, assuring a gold or silver medal finish in her in women’s 75kg.
Manju Rani and Ram Baboo win bronze in Mixed Team 35k Race Walk
India’s mixed doubles pair of Manju Rani and Ram Baboo settled for a bronze in 35k race walk event on Wednesday, 4 October. The Indian contingent now stands firm at the fourth place, making their best-ever result, winning 71 medals and counting to the previous best of 70 medals which was achieved at 2018 Jakarta Asian Games.
