Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) hosted Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 13th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, played at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. Punjab played an aggressive brand of cricket and hammered the hosts by eight wickets. Following a score of 171, PBKS chased down the total in 16.2 overs with eight wickets in hand. Prabhsimran Singh (69 off 34), skipper Shreyas Iyer (unbeaten 52 off 30), and Nehal Wadhera (unbeaten 43 off 25) batted ferociously and delivered solid knocks to their team. Punjab restricted Lucknow to an average total earlier, riding on Arshdeep Singh’s three-wicket haul.

LSG’s key betters Mitchell Marsh and Rishabh Pant failed to be effective with their bats and the latter also received criticism for failing in three matches in a row. The LSG skipper has accumulated only 17 runs in the competition thus far, at a miserable average of 5.66. Noting the southpaw’s consistent poor show, netizen went berserk on social media and criticised him. While a large section of memers are commending Punjab’s excellent effort in the game.

Punjab secures second spot on the points table

PBKS are in the second position on the IPL 2025 points tally, with their two off two wins. On the other hand, Lucknow have now relegated to the sixth spot on the tally. After playing two consecutive games away from home, PBKS will host Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Mohali on April 5.

After the thumping, Lucknow will be playing at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on April 4 against Mumbai Indians (MI), who looked extraordinary against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and bagged an eight-wicket win to add two crucial points to their profile.
