Mumbai Indians (MI) mainstay players Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Chahar, Tilka Varma, and Karn Sharma made a visit to Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir prior to their team’s Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Ekana Stadium on April 4. MI struggled in their initial two matches but against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, the Men in Blue put up a disciplined show and bagged their maiden victory of the season with eight-wicket success. Suryakumar looked in brilliant touch with his bat and struck an unbeaten 27 which came in just nine deliveries.
After thumping Kolkata, MI will look to follow the victory path and win their second match of the season against Lucknow. However, before the crucial contest, Mumbai’s key stalwarts visited the iconic temple to seek the blessings. In a viral picture doing rounds on social media, Suryakumar and Chahar were accompanied by their respective wives, Tilak and Karn. Suryakumar took to his Instagram handle and posted the picture of himself with his spouse standing inside the temple’s premises.
Rohit Sharma will look to be among the runs against LSG
MI will be concerned about their veteran opener Rohit Sharma’s form as the 37-year-old has looked miserable with the bat in his first three matches. Rohit has amassed only 21 runs in three matches at an egregious average of 7.00. Against KKR in Mumbai, he was inducted in the team as an Impact Player (IP) but couldn’t do much as he fell against Andre Russell after scoring only 13 off 12.
Against Lucknow, he will look to forget his previous failures to deliver an effective start to his team. Like Rohit, LSG skipper and IPL’s costliest player Rishabh Pant has also struggled to turn up against bowlers in the ongoing T20 extravaganza. As a batter, the 27-year-old has hoarded the figures of 0, 15, and two in his three outings.
