On Saturday, April 5, Hugo Duro scored a winner in the 95th minute for Valencia in the La Liga clash, stunning Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu in the process with a 2-1 scoreline. With this shock defeat, the Galacticos lost ground in the league title race against leaders Barcelona, who drew their home match against Real Betis 1-1 later the same night, and which meant that they are now four points ahead in La Liga with eight matches still remaining.
Notably, Real Madrid dominated the possession, shots, and shots on target during their La Liga clash against Valencia, but it was the visitors who first took the lead with a towering header from Mouctar Diakhaby on Andre Almeida’s cross in the 15th minute. After Kylian Mbappe was fouled in the box by Cesar Tarrega a few minutes later, Vinicius Jr had a great chance to put Real Madrid on level terms, but Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili saved a weak penalty from him.
Vinicius Jr made up for his mistake at the start of the second half, levelling the scoreline at 1-1 in the 50th minute with a splendid strike, which hit the roof of the net. With the match seemingly headed towards a draw in the stoppage time, a hopeful ball fell kindly to Valencia attackers in the Real Madrid half as the opposing defenders were on their heels, allowing Rafa Mir to put in a brilliant cross inside the box, which was directed into the back of the net by Hugo Duro.

Fran Gonzalez became youngest goalkeeper to debut for Real Madrid since Iker Casillas
The Valencia players celebrated the moment widely as the Santiago Bernabeu was brought to silence except for the away end. It was quite a hard day at the office for teenage goalkeeper Fran Gonzalez of Real Madrid, who became the youngest of his kind to debut for the Galacticos since Iker Casillas in La Liga, due to the injuries to Thibaut Courtois and Andriy Lunin.
Real Madrid are set to play against Arsenal in their next match at the Emirates Stadium in London on Tuesday, April 8, which will be the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.
